Let the music be with you
The most important feature of the device is its ability to provide clear and full-spectrum audio experience. Colibri uses the latest state-of-art hardware and software solutions in its construction, all of which come together to provide a natural and detailed listening experience.
The mid and high range frequencies beautifully complement the lowest tones, with consistent balance across all spectrums, resulting in a comprehensive sound image without the impression of any “missing” aspects of the music. The tones are displayed directly and without beautification, so whatever device you choose to use will be reflected accurately as intended by the designer.
EarMen Colibri shines through with excellent separation and pronounced stereo effect, while keeping all frequencies balanced during complex listening sessions.
Premium audiophile DAC
The heart of the Colibri is the flagship of the ESS line ES9281 PRO DAC. The ESS SABRE PRO series is for premium audiophile and sets a new benchmark in high-end audio by offering the highest dynamic range (DNR) with impressively low levels of total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N). Colibri supports Hi-Res PCM files up to 32bit/384kHz PCM, DoP, DSD64, DSD128 and MQA . In short, all in one solution.
Colibri has its own battery and will not consume the sound source battery. Battery power provides ultra-clean and stable DC current avoiding the issues of noise-inducing RFI/EMI pollution.
Colibri supports Tidal Masters (MQA)
MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) is an award-winning British technology that delivers the sound of the original master recording. The master MQA file is fully authenticated and is small enough to stream or download.

Plese note that the firmware update must be done
This Calibri is a well made, good sounding portable DAC/Amp. However it takes some work and extra expense (if you have an IPhone) to get it working. First of all there is a required software upgrade that you need to download and install. This is not uncommon With some equipment but there is no mention in the documentation with the unit that this is essential and needs to be done. Therefore folks like myself think the unit is defective when it isn’t. Second, the IPhone requires a USB camera adapter in line with the regular cord. This again isn’t mentioned in the documentation, but is readily available on Amazon for about $10.
Once you figure out these two requirements, connect and power up the unit it sounds good for such a small device. You can ring your ear drums with clean sound as I am now.
